Contract position: Senior Writer/Editor

Johnnie Studio, a specialty content studio, is seeking skilled writers with expertise writing for enterprise-level B2B clients. The ideal candidate will have experience with internal and external-facing communications and will be capable of writing across a variety of channels: website copy, longform content like e-books and whitepapers, infographics, emails, video scripts, campaign work, and whatever else comes our way.

Copywriter

This copywriter will join a team responsible for the day-to-day English-US copy creation for enterprise-level B2B Johnnie Studio clients. Our editorial work is both internal and external-facing and spans a variety of assets and channels: website copy, longform content like e-books and whitepapers, infographics, emails, video scripts, campaign work, and whatever else comes our way.

You’ll work collaboratively with Johnnie Studio strategists, designers, project managers, and other members of the editorial department (this includes other copywriters as well as a managing editor). This role is not client-facing and can be performed remotely, but availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day copy creation for a variety of client assets
  • Editorial quality control for every asset produced: ensuring all copy is compelling, clean, and adheres to both the project requirements and the respective overarching client style guide
  • Asset updates for each round of client copy revision
  • Collaboration with strategists, editorial manager, and designers to help reach the best asset possible

Copyeditor

This individual will be the designated copyeditor for all deliverables produced for Johnnie Studio’s wide range of clients. Our editorial work is both internal and external-facing and spans a variety of assets and channels: website copy, longform content like e-books and whitepapers, infographics, emails, video scripts, campaign work, and whatever else comes our way.

As copyeditor, you will work directly with Johnnie Studio’s team of managing editors. This role can be performed remotely, but availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all Johnnie Studio copy is grammatically excellent and adheres to the overarching client style guide
  • A deep understanding of each client style guide, from stylistic specifics to overarching voice and tone

Creative Director

The Creative Director serves as a versatile design resource for the studio, operating as a primary ideator and executor of client creative deliverables. The ideal candidate will produce fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into clear and motivating creative strategies and compelling visual and digital experiences—while ensuring their creative deliverables meet project objectives. Work will focus on tactical content asset design and client-facing ideation, but may also include occassional studio pitch work and branding suites for new and emerging business opportunities. This role can be performed remotely, but general availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior design voice on assigned client projects, seeking to elevate our approach to each asset and push the boundaries on our clients’ current standards while maintaining and adhering to clients’ brand story and guidelines. Assets will include:
  • Internal/external partner and employee communication emails
  • Web page design, including optimization and net-new page wireframes and design development
  • Standard comms and marketing collaterals (static PDFs, e-books, white papers)
  • Video, primarily in concepting and strategic alignment

Director of Strategy

The Director of Strategy will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of a key client, overseeing and executing on all marketing efforts, identifying and monitoring metrics for success and growth, and operating as the day-to-day client-facing contact and account lead. This position will need to have a holistic understanding of omnichannel and integrated marketing campaign approaches across search, media, and direct distribution techniques, as well as a proven history with client management and growth. The Director of Strategy is both an executor and a thinker, working with the internal team to ensure all projects meet client, and Johnnie Studio, standards. This role can be performed remotely, but general availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as strategic north-star for clients’ digital marketing efforts and strategies

Managing Editor

This role will at times be client-facing and can be performed remotely, but general availability 9–5 CST is required.

 

Responsibilities

  • Editorial workload management: this person must work with the project manager to keep an eye on upcoming workloads and resource them appropriately across the team
  • Management of a small team of copyeditors: this includes taking on work, providing support, and taking responsibility for the quality of everything piece of content that goes out the door
  • Management of editorial freelance pool: when additional editorial assistance is required, this person must tap the right freelance talent for support and manage both their quality of work and their experience with Johnnie
  • Management of copyeditor: this person must coordinate with our copyeditor to ensure all content undergoes a final proofing review

Senior Data & Analytics Strategist

The Senior Data & Analytics Strategist is responsible for overseeing and executing our clients’  identification, management, and tracking of data and analytics on key projects. This client-facing role collaborates with key stakeholders to understand their evolving analytics needs and identity potential solutions, helping tie content initiatives back to key organizational objectives and ROI. The ideal candidate has a holistic set of data skills, able to build and present data-driven strategies and reports, develop deep dive analyses across channels and tactics, and clearly communicate successes, areas of opportunity, and recommendations. This role can be performed remotely, but general availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as data and analytics lead for clients’ digital marketing efforts and strategies

Senior Production Artist

The Johnnie Studio team is looking for a sharp and efficient Senior Product Artist expert to work on a full-time basis with a major enterprise B2B client. The primary role of the Senior Production Artist is to translate creative concepts and core campaign ideas into designed and produced content assets across a variety of channels, including but not limited to email, social posts, video, and web pages.

The Senior Production Artist will also be responsible for ensuring that final delivery of digital creative work is translated into polished production documents that meet exact client specifications, and that all accompanying documentation, archiving and agency and client protocols are completed according to process. Rules and requirements for each deliverable format will be provided and the production direction will ensure deliverable adherence to required specifications across digital mediums. This includes measures of quality and privacy compliance.

Excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to work within a group using digital project management software, are required for consideration. This role is frequently the final set of eyes on all deliverables before they are live in market, so a sharp eye for clean copy and alignment to design are absolutely necessary. This role can be performed remotely, but general availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing digital deliverable assets to adhere to production specs using Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InVision, Word, InDesign, and PowerPoint
  • Completing required production documentation, including InVision files, Sketch files, word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets to accompany creative assets
  • Some copy editing and light design editing as needed
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Johnnie Studio’s partner agencies and vendors

Senior Project Manager

This role will execute the daily project management needs of a dedicated client, including scoping, scheduling, work tracking, and client communications. The primary method of tracking and managing projects will be Workamajig project management software (or similar cloud-based tool). This individual will also be tasked with leading project status meetings and following up on individual projects via platforms like Slack, email, and 1:1 conversations in an ongoing effort to keep all trains running on time. This position is the central source of truth and organization in a team that runs on collaborative energy and shared understanding of each project’s KPIs, which makes this person essential in the team’s success. Successful senior project managers keep all lines of team communication open and flowing during work hours while assisting in the managing of the agency’s resource model to remove any blockers that might put a timeline or deliverable at risk.

Projects involve a variety of deliverables including but not limited to: email, web design wireframes & full renders, web editorial content including keywords and SEO documentation, video assets, audio assets, social posts, and presentations in PPT. This role can be performed remotely, but general availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of the project management software project instances, including task and time estimate tracking in strict adherence with company guidelines and standards
  • Project scoping, scheduling, and work tracking
  • Tracking of agency work capacity and workload measures, flagging issues and helping to solve
  • Document management, including scopes, work backs, and client/agency briefs
  • High-level management and work tracking of various JS contract resources
  • Real-time collaborative communications with client stakeholders
  • Project file delivery (in collaboration with our production team who preps and packages assets for delivery before any send)
  • Thorough note-taking and detailed meeting follow-up messaging that clearly calls out action items, deadlines, roles, and responsibilities

 

Qualities we’re searching for:

  • Exceptional and empathetic communication skills and ability to work well within a team of diverse voices, experience, and expertise
  • Familiarity with work management platforms, e.g. JIRA, Workamajig, Basecamp, etc.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and cloud document management, e.g. OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams
  • Able to work among multiple projects and tasks efficiently while tracking time spent
  • Thoughtful and consistent attention to detail

 

We require:

  • 5-7 years of experience in project management or account management as part of a client or agency organization preferred.
  • Understanding of integrated marketing, and how marketing strategy, customer data, segments, channel, creative, content, and technology interact to drive desired business outcomes
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with rapidly changing priorities and a high volume of projects

Senior Strategist

The Senior Strategist is responsible for overseeing and executing our clients’ individual strategic outputs, including their marketing efforts and the metrics being used to measure their success. This role works across channels, and the ideal candidate has a holistic understanding of omnichannel and integrated marketing campaign approaches across search, media, and direct distribution, as well as content and messaging strategy. Additionally, the Senior Strategist is a key client-facing individual, overseeing day-to-day client connections and meetings, presenting not only strategic deliverables, but creative deliverables as well, and managing overall client needs and expectations. This role can be performed remotely, but general availability 9–5 CST is preferred.

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic lead for clients’ digital marketing efforts and strategies
  • Act as a day-to-day client contact and per-project lead
  • Oversee and execute audience research initiatives, including personas, proposed content journeys, and key audience considerations
  • Development of omnichannel and integrated marketing campaigns against audience needs, including ideal media mix and appropriate content formats
  • Identification of appropriate strategy success metrics, as well as the construction of the measurement frameworks needed to assess them
  • Along with editorial and design, ensure alignment of all content assets to respective client strategies and audience considerations
  • Attend all client download/strategy sessions to consistently strive for alignment and serve as a strategic voice
  • Provide creative team members the essential information they need to create exceptional work
  • Remain embedded with the design and editorial teams to ensure projects hold true to agreed upon strategy from start to finish
  • Regular gathering of data/assessment of current client asset performance to uncover opportunities to advance all KPIs

 

Qualities we’re searching for:

  • Expert knowledge of strategic processes and deliverables including content strategy, communication strategy, brand strategy
  • Skilled at overseeing client meetings and presenting strategic and creative work
  • Ability to work closely with both clients and internal leadership to identify growth opportunities
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to support clients with ideation, goal setting, and project planning
  • Understanding of quality creative, including editorial, design, UX, video, etc.
  • Understanding of project management and familiarity with work management platforms, e.g., JIRA, Workamajig, Slack
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 with a focus on PowerPoint deck builds

Vice President, New Business Development

Johnnie Studio is looking for an experienced, versatile, and excellence-driven account and new business lead to help our agency take the next step in its development. This role will have three primary responsibilities: 1) serving as the primary strategic and account lead for our newest client relationships, 2) ownership of all agency new business and RFP opportunities, and 3) serving as a fierce advocate of quality work across all owned workstreams.  

This individual will be a core agency leader who will need to be able to intake new business requests, concept the appropriate response, and lead the pitch process from start to finish as a core response team member and, where appropriate, content creator. All of our agency leaders are hands-on workers, and we need a lead-from-the-front type who shares that mindset and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and thrive in the complexity of strategic and creative response details.  

This individual may also have client lead responsibilities for our newest client engagements, serving as a day-to-day lead for assigned work and, when relevant, leading a team of strategists in the execution of that work.  

 

Responsibilities—new business: 

  • Source and lead new business opportunities for net-new or prospective clients 
  • Produce and customize agency materials for net-new business responses 
  • Evaluate agency’s creative and strategic response to RFP requirements 
  • Lead presentations as core response lead 
  • Develop response timelines and response resourcing plans 
  • Serve as a versatile and experienced representative for the Johnnie brand in agency responses 

 

Responsibilities—client service: 

  • Serve as day-to-day client lead and contact for—and offer strategic leadership on—assigned account(s) 
  • Work with clients to define project goals, build briefs, and develop execution strategies for assigned and prospective work 
  • Play supporting role in developing a creative team of FTEs and contractors 
  • Develop and support assigned clients for organic growth opportunities
